Tenkai Tachibana (橘 天海 Tachibana Tenkai) is a deceased character who appears only in Cardcaptor Sakura's anime adaptation.
Appearance[]
Tenkai was a tall man with dark eyes and short grayish hair. In Yuuki's flashback, he was seen smoking a pipe.
History[]
Tenkai was the father of Yuuki Tachibana, and a painter [1] who, according to Tomoyo, had “done many splendid paintings.” One summer, he and his family went to the beach, during which he would paint his final painting, "Smile."
He died the fall before the start of the series.[2]
Etymology[]
- His given name Tenkai (天海) consists of "sky" (天) and "sea" (海).
- His surname Tachibana (橘) means a type of orange.
