The Freeze is a Clow Card with the power to freeze everything and lower the temperature of the localized area to freezing point. It is aligned under The Watery.
It is one of the fifty-three Clow Cards in the anime.
Appearance[]
Both Freeze's visible form and Card form resemble a giant veiltail goldfish that is seemingly composed of ice, with a large gem on its head. The Freeze appears to be as large as a killer whale. In its Card form, it simply looks like a fish with geometric fins. However, in its visible spirit form, it is more menacing in appearance.
Personality[]
Freeze shows to be an aggressive card; most likely due to it being under Watery's dominion.
Magic and Abilities[]
Ice Magic (Cryokinesis): This Card is able to freeze almost anything, emit ice as a weapon, and lower the temperature of the localized area to freezing point (and possibly beyond it). It is very crafty when using its abilities in combat, such as attacking with frozen glaciers or attacking targets from behind with pillars of ice.
Fortune Telling: All Clow Cards have the ability to help their user predict the future. Their method of fortune-telling is similar to that of tarot cards. The interpretation of the message the Clow Cards relay depends on the magical power of the user.
Synopsis[]
Capture[]
In Episode 33 of the anime, Freeze lowers the temperature to freezing point inside a skating rink where Sakura's class has taken a field trip. In addition to the freezing temperatures, everybody except for Sakura, Syaoran, and Kaho Mizuki are magically frozen in ice. While Ms. Mizuki hides (the reason is left unsaid, but it is implied that she wants to let Sakura and Syaoran deal with the card on their own), Sakura and Syaoran are left to battle Freeze on the rink as it swims through the ice as if it were water, with them eventually tricking the card out into the open and Syaoran becoming the Freeze's master
Freeze's capture was unique in that, unlike other cards which became long swirling masses when becoming a card, Freeze shattered and the card was formed from many tiny shards of (presumably) ice.
Other uses[]
In Episode 41, Syaoran invokes Freeze to solidify and immobilize Sand with the help of Watery.
In the first movie, Syaoran uses Freeze to solidify Madoushi's water magic, preventing it from attacking Sakura.
Transformation[]
In Episode 60, Sakura transforms Freeze to stop some magically animated penguin statues.

Trivia[]
- Briefly in episode 36 its shown that Sakura has Freeze, but this was most likely an animation error.[1]
- The kanji at the top of the card: 凍, (Pronounced 'Kō') means 'freeze' or 'congeal' in Japanese.
