|Magic Type||Western Magic|
The Glow (Kanji: 灯, Katakana: グロー, Romanji: Gurō) is a Clow Card with the power to create tiny glowing lights. It is aligned under The Light and under the power of the Sun, Cerberus, and Western Magic.
It is also one of the original nineteen cards from the manga series.
In its visible form, it resembles a tiny, delicate sprite wielding a long, glowing, dandelion-like flower. Her hair is pulled back with a loose curl in the center of her forehead. She is dress in a dark leotard with two long coattails, under which is a glowing tuft that resembles her flower. Similar tufts adorn her head in the shape of buns, her chest, and the tips of her shoes.
As a Sakura card in the manga, she receives two star-shaped earrings.
The Glow is gentle and causes no harm to living beings or the environment.
Magic and Abilities
Glowing Lights: Glow can create tiny orbs of light and scatter them all over.
Fortune Telling: All Clow Cards have the ability to help their user predict the future. Their method of fortune-telling is similar to that of tarot cards. The interpretation of the message the Clow Cards relay depends on the magical power of the user.
In the manga, Glow was caught due to another one of Sakura's prophetic dreams in which she envisioned herself in the festival saying "It's probably a Clow Card!"
Glow is transformed into a Sakura card in Episode 67 of the anime/Volume 10 (Chapter 42) of the manga. When one of Eriol's magical trials cuts off the electricity supply to the lanterns at the festival, Sakura transforms Glow and uses its power to save the festival.
Clear Cards arc
Glow, like the other Sakura Cards, turned "clear" (blank) and are rendered powerless.
It is later revealed that the Cards were with Syaoran, who knew that Sakura's magical powers had grown enormously and that this could be detrimental to her. The Cards, moved by their love for Sakura and their desire to protect her, left with Syaoran through a spell arranged by his mother to prevent Sakura's powers from growing further while creating the Clear Cards.
Glow appear along with the other Cards at Syaoran's house explaining to Cerberus and Yue the reasons for their departure. Later they all appear in front of Sakura to explain that they wanted to help Syaoran protect her.
- Glow's design may be a reference to the character Tinkerbell, from Disney's Peter Pan.
- The kanji at the top of the card: 灯, (Pronounced 'Akari') means 'light', 'a light' and 'lamp' in Japanese.
- The Glow card is only used once in the anime.
