The Glow (Kanji: 灯, Katakana: グロー, Romanji: Gurō) is one of the fifty-two Clow Cards in the anime and is also part of the original nineteen cards from the manga series. It is under The Light and under the power of the Sun, Cerberus, and Western Magic.

Appearance

In its visible form, it resembles a tiny, delicate sprite wielding a long, glowing, dandelion-like flower. Her hair is pulled back with a loose curl in the center of her forehead. She is dress in a dark leotard with two long coattails, under which is a glowing tuft that resembles her flower. Similar tufts adorn her head in the shape of buns, her chest, and the tips of her shoes.

As a Sakura card in the manga, she receives two star-shaped earrings.

Personality

The Glow is gentle and causes no harm to living beings or the environment.

Glow Magic: Glow can create tiny orbs of light and scatter them all over.

Fortune Telling: All Clow Cards have the ability to help their user predict the future. Their method of fortune-telling is similar to that of tarot cards. The interpretation of the message the Clow Cards relay depends on the magical power of the user.

Synopsis

Capture

Sakura first encounters Glow during the summer festival at Tsukimine Shrine (Episode 18 in the anime), where it was casting tiny glowing lights among the trees.[1]

In the manga, Glow was caught due to another one of Sakura's prophetic dreams in which she envisioned herself in the festival saying "It's probably a Clow Card!"

Transformation

Glow Henshin

Glow transforms in episode 67

Glow is transformed into a Sakura card in Episode 67 of the anime/Volume 10 (Chapter 42) of the manga. When one of Eriol's magical trials cuts off the electricity supply to the lanterns at the festival, Sakura transforms Glow and uses its power to save the festival. The Glow is under Light.

  • Glow's design may be a reference to the character Tinkerbell, from Disney's Peter Pan.
  • The kanji at the top of the card: 灯, (Pronounced 'Akari') means 'light', 'a light' and 'lamp' in Japanese.
  • The Glow card is only used once in the anime.
