Yuna D. Kaito (ユナ・D・海渡, Yuna Dī Kaito) is one of the new characters of the Clear Card Arc. He is the caretaker of Akiho Shinomoto.

Name

Yuna's name means "Dark River".

Appearance

Yuna is tall, dark-haired, and wears dressed in full formal uniform, including an unusual pocket watch which he holds dear.

Personality

As of Chapter 15 in the Clear Card arc, Yuna appears to be rather polite and almost a little clueless. However, his name indicates he is a top-level magician of vast magical power and skill.

Background

He is an orphan was separated from his parents soon after his birth. He realized that he had no blood relatives to speak. He decided that it would be best for him to stay with People.

Later, He met Clan of People who wanted him in order to utilize his magic to help them, he didn't want to help anyone and it was bothersome having to do something for others, but he didn't have any strong aversions to the idea and he simply agreed and went along with it. He continued to grow stronger and stronger in power and with that power, he gained new magical abilities. He was't only stronger than those close to him, but he become stronger than who lived in far away lands, he was unbeatable.

Due to his immense power, his mind became completely twisted.

Relationships

Akiho Shinomoto

Yuna is Akiho's caretaker. Akiho allegedly has a crush on him. In truth, he is merely taking advantage of her to achieve his ultimate goal in utilizing the full strength of the forbidden magical relic that he had stolen from the sorcerers' association that expelled him. Which is speculated as a theory as he has shown to quite care for Sakura. 

Sakura Kinomoto

Yuna expressed his admiration for Sakura's character. They are acquainted. Behind the scenes, Yuna also knows everything about Sakura and her family.

Momo

Yuna is the only one who has been seen to communicate with Momo so far. Both are of the consensus that they need to keep an eye on Akiho.

Powers and Abilities

Power-Level: His innate magical power and prowess is indeed immensely strong, being ranked topmost in the association of magic users of "D".

Magic Circle: Colored a dark purple that has some unidentified symbol on it, but which matches the pattern on his pocketwatch. He had used it sever the strong link of magical communication between Keroberos, Yue, and Eriol in Episode 21, from a large distance.Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The pocket watch that allows him to effectively control and manipulate the present to his will.

Time Control & Manipulation: With the help of his pocket watch and a spell, Yuna is able to turn back time, affecting anyone within the area that he wishes to turn time back upon. The individuals affected will forget anything Yuna have said or done within those few minutes, allowing Yuna to rewrite the present as he sees fit.

Trivia

• The "D" in Yuna's name indicates that he is one of the most powerful magicians in a Magicians' Society with sinister intentions. Eriol warns that there are unsavoury rumours surrounding this organization.
  • In Chapter 22, Cerberus and Yue learn from Eriol that Yuna has been kicked out of the magicians' society due to the fact that he stole an extremely powerful and ancient magical object that is forbidden to be used to its full potential.
• His birthday was eventually confirmed (in the Clear Card Anime starter book)  to be March 6th, while Akiho's is September 18th. As for the series "timelines"s, it may or may not be notable that his birthday, being in March, occurs before the start of a typical real-world based setting Japanese school year (which begins April 1st, on Sakura's birthday), meaning if he was ever a student in Japan at any previous point, he would typically be on the "younger" end of a class. However, Yuna already serves Akiho upon coming to Japan. Akiho's birthday, in comparison, however, occurs not long after the start of such a school year, placing her on the "older" end regardless of Yuna's or her own history. Despite this, their full backgrounds and Yuna's and Akiho's "ages" still remain unconfirmed in full.
  • This is also despite some other timeline inconsistencies with a real-world based Japanese school system setting to begin with, as Sakura's official age in itself was confirmed to be 13 at the start of the series, even though in a real-world setting she'd be 12. If Sakura and Akiho were to start the school year at 13, despite the inconsistency; Akiho would age to 14 by September 18th (should that years' summer pass).
  • As a similar example, Yukito's "birthday", occuring December 25th, placed him as "aging" about 8 months after the start of the Japanese school year (and noted passing/'celebrated' in-series, as well as him attending school at that "age"), even though he technically is another magical "form" of Yue.
